pbwiki

If you were planning a trip with your friends, would you prefer to use the phone, the Internet (by using Wiki or some other type of email), or plan it in person and why?

Using the Wiki would be really fun! I would probably plan in person though. Not everyone knows how to work on the Wiki and all my friends are here! Although, if I was planning a trip with friends in different areas, I would use the Wiki. That way if everyone can't talk at certain times, they can get on the Wiki during their free time to check on what is happening with the trip.

I had no idea what wiki was until today and that seemed like so much easier then calling a million peoplpe to plan something. I know it was stressful trying to figure out what roommate was bringing what to the apartment and we at times didn't even remember what we had. We made a ton of list. I think it would be exciting and different to use wiki to plan a trip because it's a new technology for me and there could be one list everyone could see at any time they wanted to.

I would use both Wiki and the old reliable phone. I think using Wiki would be something new for me to try when planning a trip with my family.Sometimes they get busy and forget what was planned. The phone call would remind them, too.

I think I would use the phone. It is quicker than using wiki and I tend to be a last minute sort of person when it comes to this sort of thing. I think wikis are good for things that dont need to be rushed.

Using a Wiki seems really easy and i wwould probably use one. I know a lot of people who are not used to using technology so i would also have to use a phone or email.

I think Wikis are a really good idea if you are planning something in advance and if everyone involved is fluent with them, otherwise it will be confusing. When it comes to planning a trip, I would probably just use my cell phone because you are not always at a computer but most people always have their cell phones with them.

I would rather just plan it in person or if I had to, over the phone. It seems a little too complicated to make a wiki every time I want to get something together. I think it is a good idea to use with companies and the classroom though. I'm an RA and I think it would be fun to make one for my floor.. but then again it's not likely that people would use it, let alone join it.

I agree with you Ashley. You're not always going to be planning something with someone who is fluent in email or any technology for that matter. You can't always rely on the internet working correctly or if you will be able to be near a computer as often as you need to be.

I like the idea of Wiki, and if I had to I would use it. I think I do perfer using the phone though, becuase things would get done a lot faster. But I do think it is a great idea if you are planning a trip with people who do not live around you. Some people might not have a lot of time to talk over the phone, so they can write it all on Wiki.

I agree with you Rosie. Sometimes when I am planning a trip with my family or friends some people forget what has already been decided because they didn't write it down, so a wiki would be helpful to remind everyone what has already been discussed and decided, but the phone would probably be easier to talk to everyone. Especially since you can have more than one person in the phone call at one time.

I'm not for sure..I think I would probably still stick with planning it by phone or in person. I think that Wiki seems really convenient and would make things easier in the long run. However, I don't know how to use it very well and it would take awhile trying to explain it to everyone else if they didn't know how to use it. So I would probably just stick to the old fashioned way....

I think that I would like to try using wiki, but in the long run I think we would end up resulting to the good old telly phones. My friend and I were planning a bridal shower and we e-mailed a lot because we were in school. But when it came to something real quick that needed to be said we always used the phone.

I personally would prefer to use a phone; this comes from my prejudice to not learning new technology. I am very unfamiliar with wiki's and it is just too confusing to me. I didn't like to use text messages until this summer, so sticking with the one on one conversation is my idea.

I would use the phone. the internet is sorely lacking in human warmth. the trend of the younger generation to eliminate human contact by communicating on the net scares me. you just cant pick up on the tone a person is using in text like you can by seeing or hearing them.

mt example:
come here.
come here.
come here.
one is friendly, one is angry, and one is threatening; which is which?

I would rather plan something over the phone or in person. I don't particularly like using the Wiki. Mainly because it's new to me and if I can just pick up a phone and call rather than having to figure out what to do online, it'd be easier for me.

It wasnt until after this presenation that I knew what wiki was used for. I would definitely use wiki to plan events with friends,it would save us time and seems like a very organized method to plan events effectively.

Wiki is a good idea; however, I don't know if I would use it to plan a trip. Instead of having to get on-line to check to see if someone had responded or changed something, etc. I would rather just call them. I think it could be more efficient, especially if you need to know something immediately. I also like having to just check one thing, such as e-mail or facebook rather than keep track of what account I need to check to find out what from who. It's more confusing the more on-line accounts you have.

I think that Wiki is a great idea and really helps when it comes to group work. It can be hard to meet your group when a project is due but wiki helps make it easier to share information with your group when you find it. It really helps make life less complicated.

I would prefer to use my cell phone, texting or talk about it in person. With Wiki you have to keep checking to see if plans changed or what people can and cant bring. I think calling is easier to use and more personal.

I would prefer to plan over a phone or in person, unless it is for a large group of people and there is not a big rush. I think Wiki's work well when there is a large group of people because it gives them a common area to check. However, if it is something last minute or that needs to be planned immediately, I think a phone or person is better because you can get things accomplished quickly and efficiently.
